NAPAAHC will dedicate marker to E. Lilyan Spencer, in conjunction with affiliate Florida Civil Rights Museum

March 27, 2025

On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., the Florida Civil Rights Museum, Inc. (FCRM), the Robert and Trudie Perkins Foundation, Inc., and the National Association for the Preservation of African-American History and Culture, Inc. (NAPAAHC) will honor pioneering African-American educator, and national tennis champion E. Lilyan Spencer, by dedicating an historical marker in her honor.

Spencer, a 1926 alumna of Florida A&M University, was honored by her alma mater on March 4, 2025, with a street named in her honor. The NAPAAHC and the FCRM entered into an agreement with the City of Tallahassee in 2022 to place the marker at the corner of FAMU Way and Eugenia Street. For more information, please see the attached flyer.
